>>> FAQ <<<

To help assembling, here are some pictures and tips :

---------------------------------------------------------

BEFORE START PLEASE WATCH THESE VIDEOS :

---------------------------------------------------------

PCB_v31_Finish.jpg

---------------------------------------------------------

Components must be located on the side of the top white silk screening.
You just need soldering on the bottom side.
Holes on the pcb are copper coated to connect both sides of the board.

---------------------------------------------------------

Identification of components :

yellow violet black gold = 47 ohms
brown black brown gold = 100 ohms
red red brown gold = 220 ohms
brown black red gold = 1 Kohms
brown green black brown brown = 1.5 Kohms
yellow violet red gold = 4.7 Kohms
blue red red red = 6.2 Kohms
brown black orange gold = 10 Kohms
yellow violet orange gold = 47 Kohms

15 = 15 pF
22 = 22 pF
1n = 1 nF
104 = 100 nF
470nK = 470 nF

12.000 = 12 MHz
20.000 = 20 MHz

---------------------------------------------------------

On the PCB, the square pad is always the pin number 1.

---------------------------------------------------------

Do not solder ICs (U1, U2, U3, U5 to U11) on the PCB.
You must use sockets.

---------------------------------------------------------

1N4148, 4N4007, 47 uF, 100 uF and all ICs (U1 to U11)
are polarized and MUST be inserted in only ONE direction.

---------------------------------------------------------

The green component, with a SILVER ring, is the inductor (L1).

---------------------------------------------------------

For the "R lcd" you can use the 47 ohms resistor (the big blue resistor).

---------------------------------------------------------

To test, you can use a jumper on the "Power Selection" connector :

PowerJumper.jpg

---------------------------------------------------------

HH_Jumpers.jpg

Jumper A : High Input Impedance
Jumper B : Low Input Impedance
Jumper C : Tip = +5Volts ; Ring = Input
Jumper D : Ring = +5Volts ; Tip = Input

Postby audiophonicz » Thu Mar 25, 2010 5:34 am

Hey guys, I just joined not too long ago and bought my 3.2 kit, and have the main board 80% completed, but I have a bunch of questions which may or may not be covered somewhere I did not find or could not understand. I expected a bit more from the Quick PDF manual which is basically no more than a parts list, I'm not too good with schematics, and there are NO pictures of the redesigned board or input boards completed.

Is there an FAQ or a FULL PDF manual somewhere that I can access?? Are there actual hi-res pictures of the 3.2 and input boards assembled out of cases? Maybe a tutorial somewhere? Do I need to use both the USB inputs on the main board AND the input board, or one or the other? Where is the USB ON header on the 3.2 board that has the 3.1 final pictures all over the post? What are the AUX pin header and ICSP pin headers for? Do the USB pin headers get connected together?

If anyone could answer my few simple questions or even point me somewhere they're answered I'd be most appreciative. If I didn't think you guys were geniuses for coming up with all this, I certaintly do now!

The FAQ with pictures is here :

audiophonicz wrote:Where is the USB ON header on the 3.2 board that has the 3.1 final pictures all over the post?

The 3.1 board and the 3.2 board are the same. The only difference : there is no USB ON header on the 3.2 board.

audiophonicz wrote:Do I need to use both the USB inputs on the main board AND the input board, or one or the other?
Do the USB pin headers get connected together?

You must use only one of them at the same time.
To use the USB connector on the inputs board, you must connect the USB pin headers from the main board to the inputs board.

audiophonicz wrote:What are the AUX pin header for?

This is optional.
It's the connection of the jack which is above the kick jack.

audiophonicz wrote:What are the ICSP pin headers for?

In-Circuit Serial Programming (ICSP) pin headers are used to program the PIC and the Atmega.
Chips are already programmed, you don't need them.

A question more about this. Is this AUX a dead one? Because if i connect a pad with this input (above the kick input), i don't get any signal. Is this correct?

The AUX is not connected to the Megadrum, it's only a jack.
