Well, you could sample the air pressure created by the stick before impact. :lol:

Its easier then you think, and its been done before. Kick with 2 beaters, one hits trigger before other one hits skin. Anyway, it can be improved.

I find having the drum track on the sequencer and I just play air drums then the problem of delay doesn't exist. It also improves the quality of my drumming.

My 2 cents:

If we were to decrease latency, then we would best sample the electromagnetic waves our brain sends in order to anticipate a few milliseconds before we actually hit the pad we intend to hit, thereby canceling out the latency introduced by electrical factors. :lol:

We would need a fairly good filter though as the 'bad thoughts' might introduce crosstalk ex: You're drumming live then some smart alec makes a comment about your drumming, then of course, you'd get distracted and your thought of hitting the guy might trigger some inputs instead...
