MCT with a small PC instead of using the buttons...

right now i'm on a mac.
i'm a mac person.

but if i got a small cheap PC...
1) would i be able to program EVERYTHING on the MD through MCT ?
ANSWER:
2) and what would the "lowest" windows version be, for use with MCT (ie. does windows '98 work with the MCT ?)

3) if you have MCT running with the MD - what do you really need the buttons for?

Yes

I tested it with Windows XP and Linux.

3) if you have MCT running with the MD - what do you really need the buttons for?
ANSWER:

Buttons are required for the firmware upgrade.

I'm not saying that it's a simple solution, but having a mac you could always work with a Linux LiveCD, it's totally free.

That of course, is only if you have a Mac PowerPc, if you have an Intel, you simply need to "find" and install Windows XP using the free software Boot Camp http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/App ... 398-1.html

Otherwise, I still have my fingers crossed for a Mac fully compatible version of MCT !!

yup. i have an intel mac.

and even when running bootcamp or similar stuff - using windows to power MCT - it ONLY works on updates.
nothing else will be sent to the megadrum brain.

Not sure it could make any difference, but have you also installed Java 6 on your Windows partition?

Otherwise, the Linux live cd for Mac Intel is here :
