Search is broken

Postby Model76 » Sat Feb 25, 2012 12:34 pm

I am sorry to have to say this, but the forum's search function is severely broken.
Many times it seems to think the search terms are "too common", thus rendering search unusable.

Here is an example:

I want to find out where the development of positional sensing is at, and whether there has been any discussion of its limitations. Therefore I naturally enter "positional sensing" into the search engine. No go. This leaves me with no other viable option but to start a new thread on a subject that may already have been discussed by others.

I hope you find this report useful. :)

But then you can't search topic titles only or sort by date, I believe, and it will just be a needle in haystack experience.

Well, Google gives advantage to page/topic titles ...
Anyway, I find it more useful than any site search feature.

With the forum search I can hardly do anything myself - it is a "feature" of phpbb which the forum runs on. This is why I also recommend to use Google search in the MegaDrum forum FAQ.
