Need help configuring 22 inch kick drum

Postby jclark1118 » Sun Jan 17, 2021 11:40 pm

Every other pad I have on the kit is from an Alesis DM10 and is runing perfectly fine. Fast rolls, low sensitivity, it's all great. Except for the kick drum. My kick drum "pad" is a 22 inch acoustic kick with mesh heads and a Roland RT-30K on the rim. For the life of me I cant get the kick drum to be sensitive enough to play really fast double kick stuff and the midi input is inconsistent. Below are my settings. I'm assuming they're completely wrong. I frankensteined a bunch of different methods from various posts I found on here. Any help would be appreciated

I've followed the method from this link https://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?p=20543#p20543
I've also tried following this one as well https://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1857
And from here as well https://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=761
I cant seem to get anything to work for me

ExtraFalseSuppression will kill any chance of quick playing. Turn this off for the pad, DynLvl to 1 and send to MD. Set up the pad with gain at 1, bring HiLvl to 64, and turn HiLvlAuto on. Send to MD. Hit the pad hard 20 times, turn off HiLvlAuto off and send again. Bring threshold down 1 by 1 until it starts triggering itself, then back up a few until it stops. Be sure to send to MD each time you make a change.

You may need to increase Gain and repeat the HiLvlAuto process until you have a Hi Level above 500. If it isn't, you won't get very good dynamic range.

If you get double triggering, increase retrigger one at a time, but make sure it's an even number, odd numbers will not work. Try that.
