Megadrum Midi Not recognised in MDMFX

Postby citroen42 » Mon May 14, 2018 9:39 pm

Hi All
Upgraded to a new PC over the weekend from having used an old laptop with MegaDrum for quite a while. This is the new hardware:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... ptane.html
Running Windows 10 64 bit with latest updates.

Problem: the Megadrum Manager FX does not list the Megadrum Midi in the config menu. Please see the attached picture.

Switching back to the old laptop everything works OK and was able to succesfully upgrade the firmware just now.
Switching back to the new PC everything as per before (I didn't expect the upgrade to change anything).

Does anyone have any ideas what to try to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks in advance
Brian

Do you start MDMFX after powering up MegaDrum?

Thanks for your reply dimitri.
Yes I've tried many combinations and just can't get it to recognise the midi.
On the old laptop there is no such issue, the old laptop only supports usb2.
I'll try a different laptop tomorrow that has a combination of usb2 and usb3 ports to verify if this laptop is ok.

I tried a different laptop this morning and no matter how I tried to provoke it to fail - it always worked.

This is pointing to something with this new PC is different. I'll review the BIOS tonight to see if anything in there could prevent it from communicating with the MegaDrum module.

Do any other MIDI apps see MegaDrum MIDI ports?
Do you have any other USB MIDI device? If yes, is it seen by MDMFX or any other MIDI app?

It is pointing to a more fundamental problem. Using superiodrummer 3 does not recognise any midi even after having installed Roland um-one usb interface. Mdmfx does not list the roland midi.
Everything show correctly in device manager.

Are you sure you have a full proper Windows installation? I know cases where people had cut down Windows version installed which prevented MIDI from working properly.

I agree that it points to that, the installation was a clean installation win10 pro and the two other laptops are win10 enterprise. Ill reinstall this evening.

Reinstalled win10 enterprise and updated with all the latest updates.
Connected megadrum checked that megadrum is listed in device manage.
Then started mdmfx and only standard windows midi entries as per the first post are listed.
I'll reset the bios and if possible configure to support legacy hardware.

What did you use as an installation source for Win10?
