Looks like he stuck a piezo on the rim riser.

So 3 zones configured as normal + 1 separate trigger

2 TRS outputs in total for 4 zones.

Equivalent of having a BT-1 on the side.

I see.. Hebasically uses the positional sensing to get that realistic rimshot
