well... couldn't someone please make a veroboard project out of this?
and show where to place the battery i'm guessing is needed for the LED ??
and now what? you have to have batteries in your HH pedal too?

If it required batteries I would've shown it. It gets power from the module.

what module? the megadrum?
or will a Td-3, td6, td8 etc.. work as well?

Should work with any module which supports variable HH pedals. But don't take my words for granted, I don't have these modules.

Did you measure it, read in manuals/specifications or hear somewhere?

but the mega drum does?

MegaDrum does.

megadrum rocks !
It power the HH, fix your bad tempo, add some break when needed, play guitar if you miss one, make the coffe for you etc.
You better make one fast.

There is a rumor that it finds dates for you too.

In your schematic, are the resistor values fixed or can they be variable? I'm assuming that one just has to be a lot bigger than the other. This way I can use stuff I already have instead of buying more!

now this might sound odd, but if one were to do this inside of a pair of hi-hats, would you really need the led? couldn't your light source be the ambient light?

granted this would only work in a decently lit room and probably not a dark stage.

The controller wouldn't work correct with ambient light because this is variable.
You would have to tune the controller every time the light changes.

I don't know anything about electronics.
But I seems logic to use a constant light source to calculate the position of the hi-hat.

too bad no one has posted their findings or more info about this project.
it's seems to be IDEAL for stealthy-conversion of an acoustic set.

i love jman's ideas for mounting the circuit inside the hihat cymbals.

1) who has done it?
2) can you PLEASE put up a small video clip of it being demonstrated?
3) does it work well? as in good/perfect?

I did it.

I posted pictures in the thread. What will a video demonstrate which the pictures don't?

3) does it work well? as in good/perfect?

It works very well.
