There is only one reason for sticking with 4051s (and BATs) - DIP case versions of 74HC4851 ICs are not readily available in Europe and we have to pay a premium for delivery from USA to Europe, e.g. from Mouser it is around £15. Though SMD versions of 74HC4851 are available in Europe from Farnell with free delivery (with orders over £20): http://uk.farnell.com/9591532/semicondu ... tid=378592

it's ok to use 74HC4851 ICs instead BAT4051?

You can replace 4051+BAT85s combination with 74HC4851.

If you are planning to use the SMD version of 4851 then you should also be ready to change the board layout for the SOIC package.

P.S. The way sync. works is rather interesting. I just ordered a single 74HC4851 SMD IC for my personal needs. I come to the fourm, and here it is again :-)

Hi Dimitri There is a connection from Analogue board to digital port but some connections are empty. there is no connection. (P2) fifth, seventh, ninth, sixth 13th and 14th pins are nc pins from analogue board but from digital board just (P1)13th,14th and 9th pins are nc. So ATmega32p's 35th,34th and 36th pins are going to nc pins, aren't they? Can u answer these?

Pins 5, 6, and 7 on the P2 connector of the Analogue board are for 40/48/56 inputs versions. You can connect them to additional 4051 ICs to expand to 40/48/56 inputs.

Just for the record, Farnell do currently (now) stock 74HC4851 chips in DIP packaging:

I received mine today, and hope to spend the weekend playing around with them :)

PCBs version 3.2, 3.1, 2.8, 2.7 are designed by Synthex so you need to ask him in viewtopic.php?f=3&t=813
PCBs in this topic are designed by me and have no version numbers because they are current.

V.2.5 is the last design be Synthex that the PCB was made available for DIY. It can be found HERE. All of his after that were dual sided boards that are harder to reproduce at home. If you want to do one of the later versions, you will have to do Dmitri's or design your own pcb.
