I had some trouble updating to the new firmware with a linux system. Using MIDI-OX under wine seemed to not terminate the sending of the sysex file. If anyone else has trouble I can recommend a little utility called amidi.
amidi -l gives you a list of currently available midi ports and
amidi --port=device name --send=sysex file then sends the sysex file.

The 644 has more RAM and flash so you can use it as a replacement.
RTFM and get a 20Mhz part with a suitable crystal.

I'd try this new version with the soft chick disabled (thanks for adding that, by the way), but I don't have an encrypt-aware bootloader. I see you had some trouble with some jerk selling your intellectual property out there somewhere. Sorry to hear that, Dmitri.

Latest .syx f/w is 20100516. All newer firmware files are encrypted and are not available in .syx format.

Is there an archive of encrypted firmware anywhere? I foolishly updated mine without properly reading the changelog and now I'm stuck without MCT.
